PATHWAYS OF PRAYER

a study jointly produced by BBC Radio 4 and Churches Together (see From the Vicar) which will be on:

•  Tuesdays 11.15-12.15 beginning 12 Feb in church

•  Thursdays 8.00-9.00 beginning 14 Feb at the Vicarage

Each week includes a Bible study outline. The study considers the same passage that has been read in BBC Radio 4's Sunday Worship at the start of that week. Each study is designed to help you to consider the implications of the story for Christian living.

These prayers (mostly from the Old Testament) have been chosen to illustrate the particular strand of spirituality in focus for that week.  Those Biblical prayers will be the main focus of the study notes.  Each study will include: time to reflect on participants' own experience and beliefs; a Bible passage read and explored; how the insights of the passage can be applied today; a time of prayer.

The pathways to be explored are holiness, social justice, devotional, sacramental, contemplative, charismatic.

The Last Week

Ian Stubbs will be running a course entitled, The Last Week at the Vicarage on Mondays during Lent beginning on Monday 11 th February, 7.45 – 9.15pm. Based on a book of the same name by Marcus Borg and John Dominic Crossan it will look in detail at the Bible record of each day of Jesus final week in Jerusalem .
